Keyshia was born on October 15th, 1981 in Oakland, California. She was born to a man named Virgil Hunter, who is a boxing trainer and a woman named Frankie Lons.
Keyshia didn’t meet Cole until 2016, because she was adopted at age two. A paternity test confirmed the pair’s connection.
Unfortunately, Keyshia had no real connection to her birth parents. Her father didn’t know that he even had a child and Frankie had issues with drugs that landed her in jail.
Larry and Yvonne Cole raised Keyshia, so she took their last name. Frankie was able to keep an eye on Keyshia, though, because Larry & Yvonne were friends of the family.
Keyshia later connected with her birth mother and a biological sister that she didn’t know she had. That became the focus of one of Cole’s many reality television shows.
Personal life
Keyshia was rumored to date a number of people but those rumors were squashed when she officially confirmed that she was dating former NBA player Daniel Gibson. She became engaged to the former basketball star on New Year’s Day in 2010.

The couple’s first child, Daniel Hiram Gibson Junior was born on March 2nd, 2010. They call him “DJ” for short. However, during all of this, Keyshia was still planning her dream wedding.

While they had a ceremony on May 21, 2011, they had a renewal ceremony just a few months later that served as their “official” wedding.
For that ceremony, Gibson reportedly flew all of their family to Hawaii and they got married in a dream wedding ceremony in September 2011.
The entire wedding and all the steps leading up to it were featured on Keyshia’s reality TV series that was aired on BET called “Keyshia and Daniel: Family First.”
Sadly, Keyshia announced that she and Daniel were divorcing in March of 2014. They did not file for divorce until April 2017, which led some people to believe they might reconcile.

Keyshia always knew that she wanted to sing and her dream to stardom started at age 12 when she met MC Hammer and Tupac Shakur. She decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her singing career at age 18.
