Meek Mill (Robert Rihmeek Williams) was born on May 6, 1987 in Philadelphia to Kathy Williams. He has one older sister, Nasheema Williams. Mill came from very humble beginnings.
His mother grew up in poverty after losing her mother at a very young age. Mill also lost his father when he was five years old. He was killed in an attempted robbery.

After her husband’s murder, Mill’s mother moved the family from South to North Philadelphia where they lived in a three-bedroom apartment. She worked as a hair stylist but also shoplifted to provide for her family.
Mill was close with his uncle from his father’s side who was a pioneering DJ known as Grandmaster Nell.
He was an early influence for the rapper. Later, in his teenage years, Mills started writing and participating in local rap battles under the pen name, Meek Millz.

Mill was sentenced to a three-to-six month prison sentence for violating parole. After his release in early 2015, he started dating hip hop superstar Nicki Minaj who has just recently split with her long-term beau, Safaree. Mill and Minaj dated for two years, breaking up in the beginning of 2017.
In 2018, Mill co-founded the REFORM Alliance Foundation along with hip hop mogul, Jay-Z with a mission to reform the criminal justice system by advocating for change, starting with parole and probation.
Van Jones, the well-known activist and CNN host, serves as the CEO. So far, over $50 million has been donated to his foundation.

Meek Mill signed to T.I. for his first record deal. In 2011, he left Grand Hustle Records and signed with Rick Ross. His debut album was released in 2012 under MMG and Warner Brothers Records.
His single “Amen” featuring the rap star Drake debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Mill launched his own label imprint in 2012 called Dream Chasers Records, which he named after his own mixtape series.
Mill released his second album called Dreams Worth More than Money in 2015 and later his third album called Wins and Losses in 2016.
