Introduction

Blueface is an American rapper and songwriter who became a viral internet sensation in 2018 after releasing his first single, called “Respect My Crypn.” In 2019, he didn’t lose any steam, releasing the hit singles “Bleed It” and the ever-popular “Thotiana.”

Blueface might be his stage name, but you can actually identify this rapper by the Benjamin Franklin tattoo on the side of his face. Blueface is also known as one of Los Angeles’ most controversial rappers.

Early Life

Blueface’s real name is Jonathan Michael Porter. He was born on January 20th, 1997 in Los Angeles, California. He is 22 years old. Blueface spent his early life living in the Mid-City neighborhood of West Los Angeles.

It’s where he went to a number of grade schools in the area and then ended up moving in with his mother in the Santa Clarita Valley. Just a short time later, he decided to move in with his father who lived in Oakland.

Once Blueface moved in with his dad, he enrolled in Arleta High School and joined the football team. In 2014, he was named the starting quarterback.

Under his leadership, Blueface helped his team win the East Valley League Championship in 2014. He had an incredibly impressive record at the school and many colleges were interested in offering him scholarships for football.

Prior to graduation, he committed to playing football for Fayetteville State University. He played for the college for two years, dropping out in 2016 to focus on his rap career. Interestingly, he mentions his time as a football player during his song “Thotiana.”

Personal life

Blueface started rapping at a very young age, but it was mainly in his own home. He spent a lot of time listening to 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and The Game and started rapping in a manner that emulated all of them.

He’s been compared to rappers like Juvenile, Silkk the Shocker and California rappers Suga Free and E-40. Blueface simply says that he raps to the beat of the track, so that’s why his music sounds a little different.

Little is known about who Blueface is dating. He is very quiet about his personal life, though you can see him posting with different women on social media.

He does have a son named Javaughn, who was born in 2017. His baby came before his career, so when he first posted to Youtube, he was actually staying at home taking care of Javaughn while his partner was at work.

Besides being controversial, Blueface also has had some legal issues. In November of 2018, someone tried to rob Blueface while he was pumping gas at a Chevron station.

Blueface shot at the man as he ran away and shot into his vehicle. Even though he was defending himself, he was charged with a felony, as shooting into an occupied vehicle is a crime in California. In 2019, Blueface was arrested again, this time for felony gun possession.

Career

Blueface’s career started because of a phone charger. He had to pick his charger up from his friend’s studio and was challenged to create a rap.

His friend liked his sound and worked with him to create a song called. “Dead Locs,” which Blueface released on Soundcloud. When Blueface released his first song, he was using the name “Blueface Bleedem“ which referenced his affiliation with the “Crips” gang.

He released his second project in June of 2018 to Soundcloud and Spotify, called “Famous Cryp” and it became very popular with local DJ’s. In September of 2018, he released his second project, called “Two Coccy.” However, he was still far from famous.

Tips for success from Blueface

Don’t let someone get in your way. If you want something, go after it and don’t let anyone or anything get in your way.

If someone has an attitude with you, just simply walk away. Don’t engage with someone who is full of negativity.

Be real with people. Show them who you really are, and you’ll be amazed at how willing they are to help you, to be transparent with you and to encourage you on your journey.

Be confident in your own skin. If you think you’re the best, you are. If you think you’re the best, you are. The reality that you live is completed based in your own mind.
