Introduction

Sheck Wes is what we like to call an overnight sensation. He is a rapper, songwriter, and model.

He’s most famous for his 2017 hit song “Mo Bamba” which was dedicated to his childhood friend. Currently, Sheck is signed to two labels, one is Cactus Jack, and the is G.O.O.D. Music.

Let’s take a close look at Sheck’s net worth, biography, personal life, and career history.

Early Life

Sheck Wes’ real name is Khadimoul Rassoul Sheck Fall and his birthday is September 10, 1998. The 6’2″ artist was born in Harlem, upper Manhattan, New York, and has immigrant parents.

Even though there isn’t much information published about his parents, it has been reported that they are from Senegal in Africa.

Sheck grew up listening to a wide variety of music from Seun Kuti to DMX. He admittedly had a passion for old school music.

Sheck started making music at age 11. His younger years were spent living between New York City and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The ability to keep traveling is what sparked his interest in basketball. When he first started high school, he went back to New York permanently to work on his studies.

He initially wanted to play college basketball, but he wound up getting distracted by modeling and fashion.

Unfortunately, Sheck’s exposure to New York City’s streets got him involved in a few conflicts. His mother wound up sending him to her native country Senegal, Africa to get him out of trouble.

While he was in Africa, he found his purpose and motivation to stay focused. when Sheck returned to New York took his dream of music more serious.

Personal life

Sheck Wes considers himself to be an artist and not a rapper. His very first alias was Kid Khadi. He was a member of a rap group in Milwaukee called Milyorkers. While he was still really young Sheck would hustle mixtapes, DVDs, and forge license plates.

Sheck Wes once dated singer Justine Skye, but she later announced that he was abusing her. Since the relationship ended Justine reported that Sheck would stalk her and attack her friends when she was out with them and her new significant other.

Sheck denied the abuse allegations but claimed to remain silent at first because of the respect he had for actual abuse victims.

Justine has also put out footage with claims that Sheck hopped over her fence to harm her. Currently, Sheck is not reportedly involved with anyone and he doesn’t have any children.

Even though Sheck’s career gained success fairly quickly, it was not free of controversy. He got into a bit of confusion with a video production company called Ridge Production when they reportedly shot his “Gmail” video for “Mudboy” and did not get paid.

In response to getting stiffed on the payment Ridge got revenge by uploading an edit of the same video with only the beat playing and funny commentary on top.

Sheck’s lawyers sent out a cease-and-desist regarding one of the videos Ridge uploaded, but the company argues that they should’ve just asked nicely.

Several published threads report that it’s not uncommon for contractors to find themselves trolling a client into paying for services.

Career

Sheck Wes calls himself a multitalented “mudboy”. He can design clothes, rap, hoop, model, and several other things.

When he uses the term “mudboy” it stands for “from rags to riches”. While he was in school he uploaded his music on various media platforms.

Sheck Wes firmly believes in quality over quantity, and his temporary career wound up earning him a joint contract with Travis Scott (Cactus Jack label) and Kanye West (G.O.O.D. Music label) under Interscope.

Even though Sheck is signed to two labels, both labels are already headed by two major recording artists. Sheck has mentioned in the fall of 2018 that he wished Kanye was more involved in his career, however, the lack of hand-holding has not stunted the popular artist’s success.

Sheck put out various tracks from 2017-2018. His biggest hit to date is “Mo Bamba”, which was released on June 2017 on YouTube received more than 49 million views within the first 9 months. The song was a sleeper at first, but in 2018 it went viral.

This track is named after the Orlando Magic player Mo Bamba who he is friends with. They grew up in the same neighborhood. The “Mo Bamba” track wound up being the lead single on “Mudboy”, which was his debut album that was released on October 2018.

His album had 14 tracks and included addition hits such as “Live SheckWes Die SheckWes” and “Chippi Chippi”. Those two songs gained millions of playbacks and views on media platforms and boosted the album’s success.

Sheck has collaborated with artists including Drake, Juice WRLD, and Lil Yachty. Not too long ago he released the single “Wanted”.

In addition to music Sheck Wes also enjoys fashion. While Sheck was in high school he completely missed out on basketball games to be a part of fashion shows.

He’s 6’2″ frame got lots of attention and he was pushed to model. His father was skilled in sewing and his cousin taught him the ropes of designing clothing.

Interesting Facts

  • Sheck is a self-taught piano player. He can play certain Beethoven songs and on his debut album “Mudboy” he played on each track. Sheck believes that he should be involved in the entire process of making his hits. He says that’s what makes Kanye West and Travis Scott such iconic artists.
  • Sheck reflects back on a time when he would have drumming lessons for the span of about a month because his mom couldn’t really afford them. After they couldn’t pay the lessons would get canceled. He had to find other avenues to learn music which included making drum noises on the table. This practice was quite disruptive and would often get him suspended, but he ultimately just wanted to learn about music and had to self teach.
