Early
Bryan Christopher Williams was born on February 13, 1969, in New Orleans at Charity Hospital to Johnnie Williams and Gladys Brooks.
As a child, Birdman and his family lived above his father’s bar. His father owned several businesses in New Orleans, including two taverns and a Laundromat.
In 1975, when he was just 5 years old, his mother became ill and died, and when Williams was 27, he lost his father who died in a car accident.
In 2006, Tamara, Birdman’s younger sister, was also killed in an auto accident.

After their mother died, Birdman and his three siblings; Ronald, Kim, and Ray, were sent to live with their uncle, in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, for two to three years.
Then, they spent at least two years in foster care when they returned to New Orleans.
When their father, Johnnie found out that his kids were in a foster home, he went through a long legal battle in the mid-’70s that he eventually won.
After gaining full custody the kids went to stay with their father Johnny and his wife Patricia and Bryan’s name was changed to Bryan Williams.

Birdman had a rough childhood and was raised with his brother, Ronald Williams in the Magnolia crime-ridden Projects in New Orleans, where he sold heroin, committed robberies, and was arrested at age 16.
At the age of 18, he was again arrested for possession of drugs, and sentenced to 3 years in the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, but was acquitted of his charges just 22 months into his sentence.
Personal life
Birdman was married in September 2012, to a Venezuelan model “Diana Levy”, but the couple later divorced. He has a son named “Bryan Jr born 1997.” and a daughter named “Bria” born 1998.
He later got engaged, in February 2018, to the singer, “Toni Braxton” after dating her almost 2 years; however, they recently broke up in January 2019.

The hip hop artist is very close friends with Lil Wayne whom he partnered with to create multiple songs, including “Leather So Soft“. In fact, the two sometimes refer to each other as father and son.
They also started their own label “Young Money Cash Money Billionaires,” a combination of him and his brothers Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne’s company Young Money Entertainment.

Career
In the 90s Birdman’s step-brother, Eldrick gave him and his brother, Ronald, $100,000 (Eldrick allegedly earned from selling drugs) to help them start their own record label they called, “Cash Money Records”.
They started off by signing a few artists, and would literally sell their music from the trunk of their car and also set up performances here and there and soon gained the attention of the major labels who they later teamed up with.
Although they were young and knew nothing about running a record label, they managed to build an empire that is still running till this day.
Birdman’s rapping career originally started as a duo with producer, “DJ Mannie Fresh” when the two released several albums, including their most successful “I Got That Work!”, which sold more than 1 million copies in the US, and was certified platinum.

The group split up in 2005, and later that same year CMR signed Lil Wayne to the label whom Birdman teamed up with to release the album,”Like Father, Like Son” that was certified Gold.
