His great grandparents were Irish emigrants from County Galway. After his father’s disappearance, Vince was raised as “Vinnie Lupton” and spent the majority of his children living with his mother and many different stepfathers who acted as poor father figures.
Vince later claimed that one of his stepfathers, Leo Lupton, was very violent towards his mother. When McMahon would try to intercede in order to protect his mother, Leo would commence to attack McMahon allegedly.

Without that level of adversity, he might not have been able to use his initial strength to help him persevere no matter the circumstance. He used his anger and rage to propel him forward in life.
McMahon also learned discipline from attending the Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Virginia, from which he graduated in 1964. Another struggle which McMahon had to overcome in his early years was dyslexia.

Linda often says that she was a jock and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. As an only child, she often assumed the role of a tomboy, sharing special moments with her father.
Linda believes that understanding the male psyche helped her build a solid relationship with Vince. Additionally, it allows her to thrive in a male-dominated environment without sacrificing her personal life.
