While he was building a strong following with the Hip-Hop audience, his songs’ crossover style widened his appeal and in 2017, his popularity started to soar.

In March of 2017, he released a single, Good Life, which is a collaboration with Kehlani. Good Life received more than 13 million YouTube views in the first month alone. He also released Step Brothers, an EP with DJ Carnage.

Introduction

It seems that G-Eazy was always destined to be a star. His mom first recognized his talent and put him on the right path with a good music teacher that taught him piano.

G-Eazy took it from there and while in college, sold almost all of his belongings to stay on tour with Lil’ Wayne and Drake. He thought that learning from the best was going to pay off in a big way.

Learning to be a star isn’t enough. You have to learn your craft and G-Eazy took the smart path, studying his music, learning from friends that pushed each other, and then heading on to college to learn how to brand himself.

G-Eazy has all of the talent but he also knows what it takes to become a household name. He also knows how to turn his name into gold.

Early Life

G-Eazy’s real name is Gerald Earl Gillum. He was in Oakland, CA on May 24, 1989, to Edward Gillum and Suzanne Olmstead.

His parents divorced when he was in the first grade. When money became tight, G-Eazy and his younger brother moved with their mom to their grandparents’ home in Berkley, CA. His grandfather loved to listen to Johnny Cash and G-Eazy uses a lot of Cash’s influence in his style and his music.

G-Eazy had his first job at the age of 14, learning that what he wanted, he had to earn. His local hero was Lil’ Wayne and he knew from an early age that he wanted to be a star.

While in school at Berkley, he met a hip-hop group called, The Pack. They had a hit on Billboard and it was then that G-Eazy knew that he could succeed, too. He had been mixing beats using the same software as The Pack. Standing on Telegraph Avenue, G-Eazy sold his mixtapes out of his backpack for 5 dollars a piece.

Personal Life

G-Eazy’s dad, Eduard Gillum, is an associate professor of art.

G-Eazy’s mom, Suzanne Olmstead, is his biggest fan. They are very close and G-Eazy has even invited her to join him onstage.

He has a younger brother, James Gillum, that plays the trumpet.

His previous love interests are rumored to be Lana del Rey and Britney Spears.

G-Eazy’s most recent publicly known girlfriend is Halsey. They met during a musical collaboration and fell in love. Even though they briefly separated, they reunited and spent quite a bit of time collaborating in the studio. Maybe you shouldn’t mix work with pleasure though because they broke up again in October of 2018.

Even though there doesn’t seem to be a special woman in his life right now, in November of 2018, he was seen on a date with a 28-year old woman by the name of Christina Roseann Ray.
