In 2015, Ella Mai showcased the first piece of work. She created a 4-track solo EP called “Trouble” and posted it on SoundCloud.

The tracks did fairly well, but they didn’t bring her fame. She then started uploading covers and clips of songs of famous artists on her Instagram page.

Some of the artists she covered include Fetty Wap, 2pac, Chris Brown, and more. When she uploading a cover of the single “679” by Fetty Wap, she got the attention of DJ Mustard, an American record producer.

Early the next year in 2016 Ella Mai was signed to the producer’s 10 Summers label and they began collaborating on projects.

While under new management, Ella Mai put out a few EPs. The initial one called “Time” was dropped in 2016.

This extended play featured a single with Ty Dolla Sign called “She Don’t”. Her second EP “Change”, came out that same year and was pretty well received. Her third EP “Ready” was dropped at the beginning of 2017.
