Introduction

Mike Jones is an extremely popular rapper and songwriter who hit his peak of fame around 2004-2005. He was known to say “Mike Jones, who?” on his songs and the songs that he collaborated on with other artists.

He was also known to hand out free t-shirts with his cell phone number on them. It’s unclear if it was his actual cell phone number or a burner phone, but it certainly became a trademark of his.

Early Life

Mike Jones was born Michael A. Jones on November 18th, 1981. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas.

When Mike was young, he wanted to be a professional basketball player and rapper, with his main focus being on basketball. Unfortunately, these dreams were shattered by the action of Mike’s caregivers who transferred him between many schools.

Because of all the transfers, he could only consistently play in the YMCA leagues. Unfortunately, scouts weren’t looking for star athletes who played in intramural leagues.

In part due to his sadness over the loss of his basketball career, Mike dropped out of high school and started working jobs at fast food restaurants. After that, he worked at the computer manufacturer Compaq and sold cell phones from his apartment.

Many of these phones were stolen T-Mobile sidekicks that Mike and his friend sold for cheap. They occasionally sold drugs as well.

Mike’s grandmother was the only constant family member in his life and he’d visit her often. He says she’s the reason he got into rap and decided to use his real name instead of a nickname.

Personal life

Mike Jones is a heterosexual male who often sings about strippers and the women that he’s been involved with. Surprisingly, he’s very private and has not ever publicly confirmed who he is dating or if he has children.

Since Jones had such a tough childhood with very few positive role models, he has become extremely involved in charity work for children.

He has a program called Ice Age for Kids and is also involved in the American Dream Foundation. He’s raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help underprivileged children.
