Nas net worth is $60 million. His first major source of income came from his massively successful records. Nas sold over 25 million records internationally with eight albums, which all went platinum.

He owns his record label and has made many investments over the years. For example, he owns a Fila sneaker store and, in 2013, opened his own sneaker store in Las Vegas called 12 AM RUN, also known as Midnight Run.

This store is a part of the LINQ retail development. During the same year, he invested an undisclosed amount into Mass Appeal Magazine, of which he has the title of associate publisher.

Additionally, in 2013, he invested in tech startup company who created a job search app. He also invested $2.8 million in a viral video startup company called ViralGains.

The Queens-born entrepreneur also has a partnership with Hennessy. He is the co-owner of LANDR, a cloud-based service that automates mastering, which is the final part of audio production.

This service streamlines the process, making it easier to use, including an automated drag-and-drop feature.

Nas also partnered with New York City’s Sweet Chick, a soul food restaurant and plans to create an international presence for the restaurant. There is also a location in Los Angeles, which opened its door on April 2017.

Early Life

Nas (Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones) was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 14, 1973. Olu Dara (Charles Jones III), his father, is a jazz and blues artist from Mississippi, and his mother (Fannie Ann) worked as a postal service worker in North Carolina.

His father renamed himself “Olu Dara” as in Yoruba. Additionally, the name “Nasir” means “helper and protector” in Arabic, and “bin” means the “son of.” When Nas was a young boy, he and his family relocated to the Queensbridge Houses in Queens.

While he lived on Long Island City, he met Willy (Ill Will) Graham who later played hip hop records for him and influenced his interest in the genre. In 1985, Olu Dara and Fannie Ann divorced. Consequently, he dropped out of the eighth grade.

He later joined the Five Percent Nation. As a teen, Nas started writing his own rhymes and played the trumpet like his father.

Personal Life

On June 15, 1994, Nas’s ex Carmen Bryan gave birth to Nas’s first child, Destiny. Carmen was also known for having a relationship with his former rival rapper Jay-Z.

This relationship caused a large rift between the two rappers, leading to subliminal messages in songs and rap beef. Nas also dated Mary J. Blige for a brief time. In 2005, he married I Hate You So Much Right Now Singer, Kelis, after a two-year relationship.

Four years later, Kelis filed for divorce under irreconcilable differences. In the same year of the divorce filing, Kelis gave birth to Nas’s son, Knight. In the following year, the divorce was finalized.

The alleged amount of child support that Kelis had requested circulated the internet, fueling many opinions on child support, salaries in hip hop, etc. In 2018, Kelis confessed that Nas was both physically and mentally abusive during their marriage as was she.
